Apollo Cancer Centre Launches India’s First AI Precision Oncology Centre in Bengaluru: A Revolutionary Leap in Cancer Care

Apollo Cancer Centre unveiled India’s inaugural Artificial Intelligence Precision Oncology Centre (POC) in Bengaluru, aimed at providing swift and optimal treatment options for doctors, patients, and caregivers. The POC boasts capabilities such as precise diagnosis, real-time insights, cancer risk assessment, and treatment protocols. It plays a pivotal role in identifying suitable candidates for targeted therapy within the framework of diagnosis and treatment planning. Leveraging conversational AI, the center also imparts information to patients and their families regarding diagnoses, treatment FAQs, and facilitates connections to support groups.

Dinesh Gundu Rao, Karnataka’s Minister for Health and Family Welfare, expressed optimism about this groundbreaking initiative, stating that it signifies not only a remarkable leap in medical technology but also embodies hope and progress for those grappling with cancer. He acknowledged Apollo Hospitals’ commitment to personalized oncology care through AI as a beacon of compassion and advancement.

Suneeta Reddy, Managing Director of Apollo Hospitals, highlighted the significance of the AI Precision Oncology Centre in redefining cancer care. She emphasized the transformative nature of the initiative, showcasing the hospital’s steadfast dedication to personalized medicine and technological innovation. Reddy emphasized that the Precision Oncology Centre reflects Apollo Hospitals’ relentless pursuit of excellence in healthcare delivery.

The POC aspires to contribute to India becoming a global hub for affordable cancer care. Vijay Agarwal, Lead and Senior Consultant for Medical Oncology at Apollo Cancer Centre in Bengaluru, outlined key features of the POC, including support for new patient identification through auto-alerts, which notify operational teams about eligible patients for POCs. Additionally, the system sends alerts to operational teams regarding deteriorating patient outcomes, facilitating timely intervention and clinical escalation.
