Amrita Hospital has inaugurated its Centre of Excellence for CAR T Cell Therapy, marking a significant advancement in cancer treatment within India. The hospital stated that CAR-T cell therapy utilizes the body's immune system to precisely target cancer cells, offering new hope to patients with previously untreatable conditions. This groundbreaking approach is noted for its potential to achieve long-term remission in certain blood cancers.
The inauguration ceremony was officiated by Shri George Kurian, Minister of State for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, and Minority Affairs, who emphasized India's progress in healthcare. He highlighted that advanced treatments like CAR T Cell Therapy are now accessible domestically, reducing the need for patients to seek costly treatments abroad. Dr. Prathapan Nair P., Chairman of Amrita Health Sciences, and other key figures from Amrita Hospital were also present at the event, underscoring the institution's commitment to providing world-class healthcare at affordable costs, in alignment with its founding principles.
