Apollo Cancer Centres Partners with Accuray to Introduce India Sub-Continent's Inaugural Robotic Stereotactic Radiotherapy Program

Apollo Cancer Centres, in collaboration with Accuray, has launched the first Robotic and Stereotactic Therapy Education Centre in the India Sub-Continent, located in Chennai and Bangalore. This initiative aims to provide advanced training in radiosurgery to oncologists, physicists, radiation therapists, and technologists across India and the ASEAN region.

Mr. Dinesh Madhavan, President Group Oncology and International at Apollo Hospital Enterprises Ltd, highlighted the transformative impact of cutting-edge technologies in cancer care. The Robotic Stereotactic Radiotherapy Program will equip healthcare professionals with essential skills to leverage the CyberKnife technology, enhancing personalized and effective treatment options.

Dr. Sridhar PS, Lead of CyberKnife – Robotic Radiosurgery at Apollo Cancer Centre, emphasized the significance of sharing their extensive experience in treating over 5000 patients with the CyberKnife system. The training program aims to foster the development of cancer care through comprehensive education in robotic and stereotactic radiotherapy.

Ms. Suzanne Winter, President & CEO of Accuray, celebrated the expansion of the CyberKnife® S7™ System to Apollo centres, underscoring its precision in delivering high-dose radiation with minimal impact on healthy tissue. This advancement marks a significant step forward in cancer therapy, enabling faster and more effective treatments.

The CyberKnife System, known for its non-invasive approach and robotic precision, utilizes advanced imaging and robotics to target complex and hard-to-reach tumors precisely. The initiative aims to establish a world-class Educational Centre that will benefit aspiring CyberKnife clinicians throughout India and the Subcontinent.
