Xiaomi has partnered with Yuvraj Singh's YouWeCan foundation to launch the Swasth Mahila Swasth Bharat initiative, aimed at screening 150,000 women for breast cancer across 15 states in India over one year. This initiative targets underprivileged communities where access to healthcare and screening is limited, acknowledging the stark reality that a woman dies from breast cancer every 6 minutes in India, often due to late-stage diagnoses.
Muralikrishnan B, Xiaomi India's president, underscored the urgency of the initiative, emphasizing the need for early detection to improve survival rates. Yuvraj Singh, a cancer survivor, shared his personal journey and emphasized the importance of confronting cancer openly and proactively. His foundation's collaboration with Xiaomi aims not only to provide accessible screenings but also to raise awareness about breast cancer risks, promote self-examination techniques, and facilitate timely treatment.
The Swasth Mahila Swasth Bharat initiative is part of Xiaomi India's broader corporate social responsibility efforts, which include education, healthcare, environmental protection, emergency relief, and digital empowerment. As Xiaomi celebrates its decade-long presence in India, this initiative reaffirms its commitment to creating meaningful social impact and fostering shared value within the community.
Through this partnership, Xiaomi and YouWeCan aim to empower women by providing them with the necessary tools and knowledge to detect breast cancer early, thereby potentially saving lives and contributing to the overall health and well-being of women in India.
