Semaphore Solutions, a leader in laboratory informatics, has expanded its partnership with BillionToOne, a next-generation molecular diagnostics company. BillionToOne is implementing Semaphore’s Labbit, a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), in its oncology labs to handle significant increases in sample throughput.
BillionToOne’s unique Quantitative Counting Templates™ (QCT™) technology enables single base-pair precision in DNA molecule counting, allowing the company to develop innovative molecular diagnostics tests. Previously, BillionToOne collaborated with Semaphore to successfully implement a different LIMS platform in its prenatal diagnostics labs, benefiting from Semaphore’s expertise in complex clinical genomics.
As BillionToOne prepared to launch oncology-focused products, they reevaluated their LIMS options and invited Semaphore to demonstrate Labbit's capabilities in an oncology setting. The laboratory leadership determined that Labbit’s compliance-ready, configurable, and scalable solution was the best fit for their high-complexity, high-throughput requirements.
John ten Bosch, SVP of Laboratory Operations at BillionToOne, stated, “We trusted Semaphore from our previous collaborations. When we saw Labbit in action, it was clear it was designed to address the challenges of other LIMS. We are confident it will support our current and future needs.”
Peter Smith, CEO of Semaphore, added, “Our collective experience in implementing LIMS informed Labbit’s design. It’s a flexible, cloud-based solution that improves efficiency and throughput while maintaining quality standards. We’re excited to partner with BillionToOne on this journey.”
Semaphore Solutions offers software solutions to leading life science and diagnostic organizations, while BillionToOne focuses on making molecular diagnostics more powerful and accessible.
