The ICMR-National Institute for Research in Reproductive and Child Health is hosting two exciting events: a course titled “Medical Genetics in Reproductive and Child Health” and a workshop on “AI and Machine Learning in Disease Informatics.” These programs are tailored to enhance understanding and skills in crucial areas. The course delves into the practical application of medical genetics in improving reproductive and child health outcomes, while the workshop explores the potential of AI and ML in disease informatics.
Course on Application of Medical Genetics in Reproductive and Child Health
This course is supported by the Department of Health Research (DHR) under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, and organised by the Genetic Research Centre, ICMR-NIRRCH. It is designed to equip participants with both conceptual understanding and technical skills by providing lectures, hands-on sessions, and tutorials. Attendees will get to know about the latest advancements in clinical and laboratory genetics, along with research methodologies. Participants will get familiar with contemporary genetic testing technologies, diagnostic algorithms for reproductive and paediatric genetic disorders, interpretation of genetic diagnostic reports, and genetic counselling techniques.
This course is scheduled from June 3rd to July 28th, 2024. Indian citizens holding MBBS/MD/MS/DM or MCH degrees and occupying regular positions are eligible to apply. Candidates from the North-East region and semi-urban/rural areas of India are encouraged to apply. Applicants currently employed must provide a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their Institution Head. The deadline for application submission is April 25th, 2024. Selected candidates will receive confirmation via email by April 30th, 2024.

Workshop on Application of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in Disease Informatics
This workshop is funded by DHR-ICMR and organised by the Biomedical Informatics Centre at ICMR-NIRRCH, this workshop is designed to equip participants with advanced skills in managing extensive biological datasets using Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML). Through expert lectures in the field of disease informatics, attendees will gain insights into various topics such as leveraging large-scale genomic data for deeper biological understanding, employing deep learning techniques in disease informatics, and utilising AI and ML for disease and risk prediction using voice features.
Scheduled from June 4th to June 7th, 2024, from 9 AM to 5 PM at 6th Floor, Dr. G. M. Phadke Memorial Library, ICMR-NIRRCH, Parel, Mumbai. This workshop offers a unique opportunity for professionals to enhance their expertise. The application submission period starts from April 15th to April 30th, 2024. Selected participants will receive notification via email on or before May 5th, 2024.
Candidates with a post-graduate degree in Life Sciences are eligible to apply. Proficiency in Python/R programming, demonstrated through publications or GitHub contributions, is required.
