Dr. Kakar, who has served on the MedGenome board since 2022, is Managing Partner and Head of Asia at Novo Holdings, a prominent life sciences investor. With over 30 years of experience in the healthcare and life sciences industries, Dr. Kakar has held senior positions at Avenue Capital, GE Healthcare, and Everlife Asia, and currently serves on the boards of Doctor Anywhere, ESCO, and Qure.ai.
Dr. Kakar brings a wealth of expertise in healthcare investments and operations, having been involved in healthcare leadership across Asia, the US, and Europe. In his new role, he will guide MedGenome’s growth strategy, emphasizing expanding its global footprint and making healthcare solutions affordable and accessible. MedGenome’s mission is to transform healthcare through its innovative genomic research and diagnostics, providing critical insights at the molecular level to diagnose complex diseases and enable advancements in precision medicine.
MedGenome is a leader in genetic testing in India, offering more than 1,300 tests across key areas such as oncology, reproductive health, inherited diseases, infectious diseases, and preventive wellness. The company has sequenced over 350,000 genomes and exomes, built a network of over 5,000 hospitals and 15,000 clinicians across India, and created the largest database of South Asian genetic variants.
