The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, has partnered with Wipro GE Healthcare Pvt Ltd to establish an AI Health Innovations Hub. This initiative aims to transform healthcare delivery by developing AI-powered solutions for precise diagnosis, innovative treatments, and real-time patient monitoring, focusing on cardiology, oncology, and neurology.
Wipro GE Healthcare will invest $1 million over five years to co-develop, test, and deploy intelligent systems. As the clinical partner, AIIMS will provide multimodal clinical expertise and serve as a real-world testing environment. A joint working committee will oversee the collaboration, fostering clinical research and academic engagement.
The National AI Portal of India (INDIAai) highlights AI's potential to boost the GDP by $25–30 billion by 2025 through enhanced healthcare delivery. By integrating longitudinal patient data—such as imaging, lab results, and medical records—with analytics, AI can revolutionize diagnosis, operations, and patient care.
Dr. M. Srinivas, Director of AIIMS, emphasized the strategic alignment of this collaboration with India's vision for advanced healthcare, underscoring AIIMS' commitment to advancing clinical research and improving patient outcomes.
Parminder Bhatia, Chief AI Officer at GE HealthCare, described AI as a transformative force to democratize healthcare and enable predictive, preventive, and personalized care. Chaitanya Sarawate, Managing Director, Wipro GE Healthcare South Asia, called the partnership a significant step towards developing AI-based models for clinical care in India and beyond.
