Royal Philips celebrated the groundbreaking ceremony for a new Research and Development (R&D) center to expand its Healthcare Innovation Centre (HIC) in Pune. The forthcoming facility, situated on a 10-acre plot in MIDC, Chinchwad, will initially offer around 300,000 sq. ft. of office space and accommodate 1,900 employees. Scheduled to be operational within two years, the center will host R&D teams from Philips’ image-guided therapy, precision diagnosis, monitoring, and sleep & respiratory businesses. Consolidating these teams in one location will enhance scalability, speed, and efficiency while facilitating resource sharing and best practices across divisions.
Aligned with its global mission to enhance the lives of 2.5 billion individuals annually by 2030, Philips aims to drive innovation in healthcare technologies through this new center. Notably, the facility emphasizes sustainability with provisions for Green Power, electric vehicle charging, and promoting bicycle commuting. This initiative underscores Philips’ commitment to a technology-first approach in expanding access to healthcare.
