Fortune 500 company Thermo Fisher Scientific, headquartered in Boston, USA, has signed an MoU with the Telangana Government to establish a Bioprocess Design Centre (BDC) in Genome Valley, Hyderabad, announced IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu. Spanning 10,000 sq. ft., the BDC is expected to become fully operational by the first quarter of 2025.
The MoU was signed at the Minister’s office in the State Secretariat on Wednesday. Sridhar Babu highlighted that the centre will enhance local pharma and life sciences sectors, supporting innovation with advanced labs and research facilities. Telangana, contributing 33% of India’s pharma exports, is also establishing a Skill University to address industry workforce needs.
Additionally, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories is currently training 80 individuals to bridge skill gaps. The Minister noted that Genome Valley's third phase of expansion is progressing rapidly, and a conference on AI in pharmacy is scheduled for November 18.
