Indica Labs has introduced Lung Macrodissect AI, a transformative tool in digital pathology that enhances slide macrodissection and molecular pathology workflows. This AI-powered solution significantly improves the accuracy and efficiency of tumor content estimation and macrodissection, critical steps in molecular pathology. Traditional manual methods are often subjective, error-prone, and labor-intensive. In contrast, Lung Macrodissect AI quantifies tumor content across whole slide images, generating real-time data on tumor cell density to guide the annotation process.
Lung Macrodissect AI integrates with Indica Labs' HALO AP® platform and can pair with Xyall's Tissector robotic macrodissectors for a fully automated workflow. This integration enhances the accuracy and efficiency of the macrodissection process, allowing pathologists to focus on complex tasks. The tool also standardizes manual macrodissection workflows, ensuring only high-quality specimens are sent for genetic sequencing and molecular testing.
Clinical validation of Lung Macrodissect AI on 317 primary and metastatic slides showed significant improvements in consistency and agreement among pathologists. Without AI assistance, the inter-pathologist consistency (ICC) was 0.45 and agreement (Fleiss’ kappa) was 0.27. With AI assistance, the ICC increased to 0.75, and Fleiss’ kappa rose to 0.66, demonstrating substantial improvements.
Steven Hashagen, CEO of Indica Labs, highlighted the efficiency and accessibility advancements brought by Lung Macrodissect AI. Future launches include tools for colon, breast, and prostate macrodissection. Peter Caie, Senior Principal Scientist at Indica Labs, emphasized the tool's ability to objectively quantify tumor cells and streamline the annotation process.
Lung Macrodissect AI is available via the HALO AP® platform, known for its robust annotation, collaboration, and image analysis tools. HALO AP® supports various file types and complies with FDA, HIPAA, and GDPR regulations. While Lung Macrodissect AI is for research use only in the USA, HALO AP® is CE-IVDR marked for in-vitro diagnostic use in Europe, the UK, and Switzerland.
